Drinking card games

There are many different types of drinking games that are popular today.  Many of these games are simple and are all about drinking the most or the fastest.  While these games can be fun, many individuals crave a more skillful drinking game.  This is where drinking card games come in handy.  Drinking card games are great because they incorporate the same card skills that we all enjoyed as children, but they spice them up with the use of alcohol.  Check out the many drinking card games available or learn how to create your own with our handy guide.

The first types of drinking card games are games that have been designed specifically for alcohol-related entertainment.  One of these games is “Horserace”, where players bet amounts of alcohol on “horses” which are the aces in the deck.  The aces race forward when cards of their same suit are drawn from the deck.  “Kings” is another drinking card game that is popular in the United States, particularly among college students.  In this game, individuals are required to do certain actions based on which cards are drawn.  “Liar’s poker” is a popular drinking game that originated in bars, where dollar bills are used instead of cards and players bid on which numbers are in the serial numbers of the bills.  These drinking card games are all a great way to become familiar with drinking games of skill.

Other drinking card games are games that are adapted from regular card games to work for drinking gatherings.  One of these games is “Scum”, also known as “Presidents” or “Kings and Queens”.  This card game is popular and is played in nearly every household, with different rules being used in different families.  Typically, this game involves getting rid of all your cards, by playing the appropriate number and quantity so that you can become the “King” or “President”, which will give you an advantage in the next round of play.  When played in a drinking atmosphere, certain rules are added, such as the stipulation that a player must drink if they pass on a turn or if they make a mistake, and so on.

Many other games besides “Scum” have been turned into drinking games.  It is a popular thing to do because it allows individuals to have fun playing games they are familiar with from their childhood, with an adult twist.  If you are looking for a fun drinking card game to play with your friends, you might consider altering one of your favorite childhood card games to include rules about drinking.  Board games you may have enjoyed when you were younger can also be turned into drinking games.  Use your imagination and you might soon have inspired a drinking game trend!
